The Second Carnival of GRADual Progress

... will be held at Fumbling Towards Geekdom on the 15th of September 2006.

If you want to write a post for inclusion, but are stuck for ideas, I (and no doubt a whole lot of other struggling grad students) would love to hear about any of the following:

  • What has been the thing about grad school or the dissertation writing process that you have most enjoyed, that has made it all worthwhile, or (if you have finished already,) that you most miss?
  • If you have hated your time as a grad student, how should the system be fixed so that future students no longer have to suffer like you did?
  • Do you have any clever or amusing strategies for surviving on a graduate student budget?
  • How do you go about writing? Do you have rituals? How do you avoid procrastination? Manage your writing time? What about the process itself? Are you a scribbly multiple drafter or an obsessive one-shot perfectionist?

These are only suggestions, of course, and posts on any and all subjects concerning grad student life, dissertation writing and other topics dear to our hearts are most welcome.

You can submit your -- or other people's -- posts in any of the various ways mentioned below.
